Off to Blogopolis!

In the morning, Sean and I will be heading out to Nuffnang Blogopolis 2012.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend last years, not for lack of wanting to either, I was just too sick at 1 month pregnant to go and had to eat the cost of my flights and accommodation. Thankfully I was able to pass on my ticket to Mummycino, who herself was ready to give birth any day. But nothing will stop me this year!

We have to be out the door at 7am, which for me means getting up at 5:30-6am and showering quickly then feeding the baby before bundling into the car. Originally I had planned on catching the train and using that time for a feed but there’s track work on our line, so car it is.

I am looking forward to meeting those who’s blogs I’ve been reading for the past few years and been tweeting with on occasion. I will be the tired mummy with the 4 month old baby sporting an awesome ginger mullet (that’s him to the side). So if you spot me, please don’t be afraid of saying hi, I don’t bite and would welcome the distraction if the baby’s playing up.

There are lots of posts about what and what not to take to Blogopolis. Which has been great for me as a Blogopolis virgin, so here’s my list:

  • 1 x 4 month old baby – apologies in advance to those who aren’t too fond of wee humans, he is breastfed so I can’t really leave him home with his Dad. I will try and keep him quiet, he will probably think it’s Christmas getting snuggled all day, he hates being put down!
  • nappy bag and assorted baby stuff
  • mountain buggy – for when my arms fail
  • baby carrier – for when the pram doesn’t work
  • tickets, copy of the schedule & parking pass
  • ipad and charger
  • phone and charger
  • camera
  • business cards
  • notepad and pens – 4 should be enough right?
  • muesli bars
  • bottle of water
  • wifi hotspot

I haven’t had time to get my hair done specially, besides it’s recovering from the haircuts from hell a few weeks back. Long story short, first haircut with my usual hairdresser, ended up being lopsided/different lengths. The repair haircut for that ended up with my hair being layered extremely short. Needless to say, it now looks like a cross between a helmet and a mullet as Adam is quite happy to inform me multiple times a day. The best I can do is blowdry the crap out of it and pray.

A lot of bloggers seem to be spending a lot of time planning their outfits. I’ll just be in a pair of jeans, my black boots and a black breastfeeding top. My wardrobe options are seriously diminished whilst feeding. Might team it with a green jacket or a cardi, undecided on that front. Either way, it won’t be flash or amazing, just comfy and practical for juggling my little monster.

Anyhow, time for bed. See you all there!

Washing day

I’m really thankful that it’s sunny and warmer today!! With the week of rain, the washing has been piling up, especially all of Sean’s clothing and wraps!

I estimate I’ll do about 5 loads today…

Time for a haircut!

My hair is incredibly thick and grows fast, it’s also extremely heavy and prone to giving me headaches.

Sean also likes to grab handfuls of it and just hold on tight, major ouch right there!

I haven’t really cut it since I got it cut off after the wedding last year other than my fringe, so it was well overdue for the chop. The ends were a bit scraggly and I’ve been getting some pretty bad headaches the past few weeks, as well as Sean’s obsession with it.

I’ve actually been trying to get to the hairdresser’s for weeks but dealing with a newborn leaves not a lot of time for anything else. I tried last weekend but they were unable to fit me in but they gave me a 30% off voucher if I booked an appointment before 12 noon on a weekday!

So I took Sean over to Mum’s for the morning. It worked well, she got some time with him and Zara was absolutely thrilled to bits that “her” baby was visiting. Then headed out to get my hair done.

I opted to have a treatment as well, love that scalp massage! It was bliss to just have some time to myself and do something for me, not with a baby attached to me. When you spend most of every day in your pj’s with no shower, it really counts 😉

And here’s the end result…

Excuse the tired mummy eyes and face 😉 So what do you think?

Returning imminently!

I know, I know! I’ve been incredibly slack at blogging the past 2 months, but I have a really good reason, I swear!

My little boy is now 5.5 weeks old and taking up every waking moment and then some, sleep deprivation is an evil thing!!!!

I was also in hospital for a while due to emergency gall bladder surgery approximately 3 weeks ago, which I am only just beginning to get over – still can’t utilise the baby bjorn as my tumtum is so tender and when I have a baby that just wants to be held all day, it’s murder on your arms 🙁

I am now a full-time Mum until later this year, currently on maternity leave until October although that could change as I can take up to a year off. It’s really weird having not having anywhere special to be or things organise, but I’m adapting, taking care of Sean in itself is a full-time gig. There is literally no time for even showering or eating some days, if I get out of my pj’s before my husband gets home from work, it’s a good day.

So here’s to motherhood in all it’s gory detai… glory 😉

10am

Today’s theme for the February Photo a Day Challenge is “10am”.

Around 10am this morning, I was uploading the first few of our official wedding photos to my Flickr account. There are over 500 of them, so it will take me a while to go through and pull out the ones I want to put up, the baby will probably be here by the time I get it done 😉

The ones I did upload thus far can be seen here. Just of the grooms party getting ready.
