Incoming storm

Today started out rather nicely – it was sunny and much warmer at 25C than the previous week or so of 19C.

Then as I walked out the front door at lunchtime, the sky was getting grey. By the time I was approaching Westfield about 10 minutes away, it was definitely black. Thankfully I got under cover just as it started coming down!

Thank you Twilight!

So many years ago, there was an amazing show called Star Trek – not to mention 5 spinoff series and countless movies. Fans of such are often, quite derogatorily, referred to as Trekkies.

Fast forward 30 odd years and kids are enchanted by another phenomenon – Twilight. Once again, the old stereotypes rear their heads and fans are called Twihard’s. Whilst being derogatory, the fans, like Trekkies before them, have embraced the label and made it their own.

They have also made it cool to be a Trekkie again!

And if you look closely at the skinny young thing in the oversize security uniform in the front, you may recognise yours truly at the tender age of 19 😉

How hot was I back then?! That being said – thanks Twilight 😀

Point + Shoot: Sunday mornings

This past weekend was the annual Sydney to Wollongong Bike Ride to raise money and awareness for MS.

Work had a small but dedicated team participating, so I stayed overnight at my parents in order to get up early in hopes of getting a glimpse as they rode through Rockdale. Unfortunately there were roughly ten thousand riders and a huge backlog, so I missed them. I did manage to hang around for roughly 50 minutes before being overcome by a major dizzy spell – another fun bit of pregnancy. I was so pale that the nearest policeman came rushing over to make me sit down worried I was going to faint, definitely felt like it!

But whilst I was there, I did enjoy watching all the cyclists, especially those who dressed up for the occasion. It makes me wish I was still able to ride, but unfortunately my wrist never recovered properly from my accident last year and there’s no way I’d risk riding whilst pregnant. In fact, I recently sold my road bike – I was sad to see my baby go. Hoping to get a bike that supports my wrist better next year after the baby arrives.

I then spent a lovely morning chatting with Mum and attending an antiques fair with my parents, as well as spending some time with my brother’s dog Angel (the black one) and more importantly, Hansel. We suspect he has cancer, he appears to be wasting away much like Gretel did last year. However, he is not showing any sign of being in pain and is his usual emo self, whining away at all hours, desperately happy for any attention he can get. Miss being away from him all the time!

Storm clouds gathering

Yesterday, as I was walking back to the office after lunch with one of my friends Galen, we couldn’t but help notice the storm clouds that were gathering over the Harbour.

And like many amateur photographers, I usually have my camera on me!

These were snapped on my trusty little Canon Ixus 80IS at Walsh Bay, looking out along the pier to the Harbour. I’m pretty pleased, considering these have not been touched up (just resized for ease) and were taken whilst we were walking.
