Sleepy vegemite by kehkat

Can anyone look at a sleeping baby and not go “awww!”?

This little guy is the heart of our family and has stolen our hearts. Adam and I were a family before but Sean has completed us.

I am off on holidays at the moment whilst Sean’s daycare is closed. Adam was also home as he had his wisdom teeth out the other day and had a followup appointment this morning, which is why he is in this photo… sorta πŸ˜‰

Sean had half a vegemite sandwich and some apple for lunch, he didn’t get through much of it before he fell asleep. But not before he had smeared the vegemite all over the highchair, his clothes and himself. Cleaning him presented a challenge, as did getting him out of the highchair without waking him. I was able though, to clean him up roughly with baby wipes before extricating him. I even managed to change his nappy and put his sleeping bag on – go my mad mummy skills!

Something New

Sean has proven to be an extremely fussy eater. He is also classed as underweight for his age, he isn’t even at 8kg when many babies his age are around the 10-12kg mark already.

We have been on monthly visits to the clinic and the paedatrician since he was very young, work have been fantastic at allowing me to attend these thankfully. He is 10 months old yet at his last checkup a week or so back was still only 7.76kg, so is still scraping along the very bottom of the charts they use to track this stuff. Interestingly he has gone from the 50th to the 90th percentile for height!! So I think he will be tall and skinny like my brothers πŸ™‚

Adam made a bunch of lasagnes from a 12WBT recipe on the weekend. We find these are fantastic for freezing and we can put all sorts of vegetables and the like in them. Whilst I was transferring the latest batch into containers for freezing today, there was a lot of mince left in the pyrex, so I decided to give it to Sean for his lunch!

So today Sean had mince for the first time without spitting it out as well as carrots which we had been holding off on due to my niece having some reactions as a bub (paediatrician had advised to leave it late in light of that). Also there were baby spinach and eggplant in the mince.

So a total departure from the smooth purees he is used to and he ate the lot, albeit in small spoonfuls but I’ll take what I can get.

Off to Blogopolis!

In the morning, Sean and I will be heading out to Nuffnang Blogopolis 2012.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend last years, not for lack of wanting to either, I was just too sick at 1 month pregnant to go and had to eat the cost of my flights and accommodation. Thankfully I was able to pass on my ticket to Mummycino, who herself was ready to give birth any day. But nothing will stop me this year!

We have to be out the door at 7am, which for me means getting up at 5:30-6am and showering quickly then feeding the baby before bundling into the car. Originally I had planned on catching the train and using that time for a feed but there’s track work on our line, so car it is.

I am looking forward to meeting those who’s blogs I’ve been reading for the past few years and been tweeting with on occasion. I will be the tired mummy with the 4 month old baby sporting an awesome ginger mullet (that’s him to the side). So if you spot me, please don’t be afraid of saying hi, I don’t bite and would welcome the distraction if the baby’s playing up.

There are lots of posts about what and what not to take to Blogopolis. Which has been great for me as a Blogopolis virgin, so here’s my list:

  • 1 x 4 month old baby – apologies in advance to those who aren’t too fond of wee humans, he is breastfed so I can’t really leave him home with his Dad. I will try and keep him quiet, he will probably think it’s Christmas getting snuggled all day, he hates being put down!
  • nappy bag and assorted baby stuff
  • mountain buggy – for when my arms fail
  • baby carrier – for when the pram doesn’t work
  • tickets, copy of the schedule & parking pass
  • ipad and charger
  • phone and charger
  • camera
  • business cards
  • notepad and pens – 4 should be enough right?
  • muesli bars
  • bottle of water
  • wifi hotspot

I haven’t had time to get my hair done specially, besides it’s recovering from the haircuts from hell a few weeks back. Long story short, first haircut with my usual hairdresser, ended up being lopsided/different lengths. The repair haircut for that ended up with my hair being layered extremely short. Needless to say, it now looks like a cross between a helmet and a mullet as Adam is quite happy to inform me multiple times a day. The best I can do is blowdry the crap out of it and pray.

A lot of bloggers seem to be spending a lot of time planning their outfits. I’ll just be in a pair of jeans, my black boots and a black breastfeeding top. My wardrobe options are seriously diminished whilst feeding. Might team it with a green jacket or a cardi, undecided on that front. Either way, it won’t be flash or amazing, just comfy and practical for juggling my little monster.

Anyhow, time for bed. See you all there!

9 weeks old

Well, I’ve been very slack in my updates of Late, but not a hell of a lot to write about on the child front.

He is a little poo machine that keeps us on our toes and doesn’t like to sleep much, I’ve figured I can get him to settle best when I sit down and finally watch Firefly, 10 years late, but it’s a great show.

Whedon also did another great show just recently, The Avengers, man was that a ride and a half. First night out together without Sean, we got to see my kind of movie πŸ™‚

Sean is 9 weeks old this past friday, we need to keep an eye on his development and record him for prosperity. Kate managed to grab a little video cam a while back forΒ  a bargain price, but it has proven to be a crap investment when it really comes down to getting those moments captured, mainly in the sound area.
So I convinced myself to splash out on a new piece of Hardware…. finally got a Canon 5D mark II. full video recording and a full frame camera. Hoo boy!
here is a crappy starting video or two of Sean to show what it can do, mind you, I didn’t go the Mark III thankfully, Canon recalled them all due to a light leak, not a good thing on a piece of equipment worth 4K.

I did manage to change jobs in the last month, a massive move for myself that has dropped my stress levels a bucket load. It’s doing the same thing, for the same people, from a different side of the fence, with higher pay and a team behind me. Big decision, and I feel that my old boss is copping a lot of stress for himself from my leaving, but I had to look out for number one. The old boss is a great guy and it was nothing to do with him that I left.

So in the last year:
1. Married
2. Moved House
3. New Car
4. New Baby
5. New Job

Don’t know if there is much else you can do in a year without going overseas or winning lotto…. here’s hoping!
